Hello my name is Jane Mason.  I am the K- 4 Vocal and General Music teacher here at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet.  I am originally a native of Huntsville, Alabama.  My teaching career began in Alexandria, Virginia, after graduating from Alabama A & M University located in Huntsville.  I have had the privilege of teaching for the Alexandria City Public Schools in Alexandria, Virginia working with students in grades K- 6.  One of my greatest highlights during my musical career and journey was that of being a conductor for the All - City Alexandria City Public Schools Chorus. I have also conducted and directed a number of middle and lower school musical productions and Choral events at Morris Park Elementary and the Ramsey International Fine Arts Center. Other highlights include choral performances of singing the National Anthem for the Minnesota Twins, Timberwolves, America Sings, Up With People, Collaboration with Sweet Honey and the Rock Organization, and Vocal Essence.  I am also affiliated with the Learning Through Music at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet (Boston Music Consortium/ New England Conservatory) for Integrating the Arts in academic learning.  I hold a Master's Degree in Teaching and Learning from St. Mary's University in Minnesota.  Here at Folwell I am honored to serve as a mentor for students from the following local the universities and colleges in the metropolitan area: University of Minnesota, Hamline University, Waldorf College, Northwestern Bible College, St. Olaf and Metropolitan State University.  I believe music is key in the learning process for academic achievement and that music is the foundartion for language and communication.

I have been married for over 34 years. We have four wonderful young adult children. Who are graduates of Hamline University, St Thomas University, University of Minnesota and the youngest a former Ramsey student who is presently attending Iowa State. During most holidays my family and I host college students from all around the states and internationally who are not able to make it back to their homes.  It has been a family tradition since we have been in Minnesota, which is about 14 years.  Some of my hobbies include bowling, cooking, and crafts, singing and listening to music. I believe school should be fun and exciting.
