As a Performing Arts Magnet School, Folwell has a distinguished music department in the Minneapolis public school district. Nurturing the habits of excellence-in-performance, comprehensive musicianship and music literacy are paramount objectives to the aim of establishing a solid foundation for students to become successful lifelong musicians.
PRACTICE: The practice logs are due Mondays. Practice requirements for students are: 150 minutes per week (≈30 minutes per day). More information on Practice can be found at: http://folwell.mpls.k12.mn.us/practice
Instruments should be taken home daily, leaving Folwell’s band instrument lockers empty (Rental Agreement / Contracto de Alquiler del Instrumento). Practice logs are to be signed once per week by parents. Home practice makes up 20% of student grades; if practice logs are not turned in, the best mark students will receive in the class is a “B.”
SMARTMUSIC: Students should be completing weekly assignments on Smartmusic. If families wish to purchase smartmusic, it can be done through the smartmusic website.
FEES: For any student still owing fees (T-Shirts, Instrumental Rental, Lost Lock, etc.), please get this taken care of ASAP.
