My name is Colin Brown.  I have had the pleasure of teaching in Minneapolis for twenty-five years.  My time away from school is spent fishing, golfing, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.

The second-grade curriculum includes: weather, matter, mapping, and civics. They will also learn how to tell time, count money, read and write numbers to 1,000 and solve addition and subtraction with 2 and 3 digit numbers. Level M is the end of the year reading goal. With a lot of hard work and practice, your child will master these and many more lifelong learning skills.

Homework

Homework is given daily.  The work is based on our weekly learning targets.  Students have also been asked to read at least thirty minutes per day at home.

Emergency Numbers

In case of an emergency, I need a way to reach you. Please make sure if you get a new phone number, to email, call the office, or send in a note.   Also, for the safety of your child, please inform the school of any medical issues your child may have such as food allergies. If there is anything else you feel I need to know about your child to help them have a successful year, please let me know.

Contacting Me

The best way to reach me during the day, is by email.  My email address is colin.brown@mpls.k12.mn.us. However, I don't usually have time to get to email until the end of the day. If you have an emergency, please call the office 612-668-4550 and they will get the message to me.

It will be a great year in Second Grade!

Mr. Brown
