My name is Abir Ismail. I am excited to teach Intermediate Algebra, Algebra 8, Math Extension and Focus Math 8 at Folwell.
This is my third year in the district, I taught the same topics last two years at Ramsey Middle School in Minneapolis.
In my opinion, the main goal of the education process is to generate well trained leaders to face real life problems with courage and energy to help humanity. To reach this goal, my role will be to encourage, motivate, and give students the chance to explore and be independent in their learning. I focus on the effective use of technology in the math classroom to help my students build a deep understanding of Mathematics. My master thesis focused on using technology that aligns with brain-based learning principles to activate students' prior knowledge. I also use technology to differentiate and reach the needs of each student in my classroom.

I have received a Master degree in Education with a Certification in teaching Mathematics from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse and I have a B.SC in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. On March, 1995, I came to the United States to join my husband while he was pursuing a doctoral degree in Aerospace Engineering in Virginia. I have 4 children, Omar, 21, Asmaa, 19, Aisha, 16 and Hajar, 14. My first two children were born in Norfolk, VA and my youngest two were born in Seattle, WA.

Other than teaching, I enjoy cooking and camping with my family.
