About Ms. Vyhanek

My name is Jeanette Vyhanek and I am the Middle School Counselor at Folwell Performing Arts Magnet School. I recently joined the Folwell community and I’m excited to be part of the Folwell community!

I graduated from a Master’s in Counseling from the University of Minnesota in 2017. Prior to my career as a counselor, I worked at Cristo Rey Jesuit High School as the Principal’s Assistant, volunteered in Lima, Peru for 18 months at a boarding school for poor boys, and worked as an Independent Living Skills Worker.

The mission of the school counselor at Folwell is to work with students, families and staff to ensure that all students are academically and socially successful, are well-prepared for success in high school and college, and have a vision for life-long learning and future career options. Counselors address student needs in three areas: Social/Emotional, Academic and Career. Counseling is provided to individual students and in small groups, and through the My Life Plan curriculum to classrooms at each grade level.

Parents/guardians are partners with teachers and the counselor to ensure student success. I encourage families to contact me with questions, concerns, and feedback.
