Ms. Harper

In an effort to meet the needs of our brilliant and diverse scholars, Folwell has implemented Guided Language Acquisition Design (Project GLAD). GLAD units of study merge the best strategies from second language acquisition (e.g., first language use, visual support, oral language development, peer collaboration) with brain-based learning research (the effects of color, novelty, repetition, class climate and culture) to create vibrant classrooms where the content is literally on the walls and in the air!

My name is Lynn Harper and I am a certified Guided Language Acquisition Design (Project GLAD) consultant. This is my eighth year in Minneapolis Public Schools, my fourteenth year teaching English as a Second Language (K-12), and my twenty-seventh year teaching. I started teaching as an artist educator teaching video to kids and adults in Saint Paul and worked my way toward K-12 from there.

How my work touches students at Folwell:

  • Supporting middle school lunch (where I get face time with our oldest scholars)
  • Demonstration lessons in classrooms
  • Weekly strategy newsletter for teachers
  • Supporting middle school teams in implementing learner and brain-friendly strategies

I believe in your scholars and I trust the Folwell team. We are all busy, everyday, carrying out the beautiful and messy work of human development. I look forward to meeting you soon!
